New York Public Library Lions

As part of the 100th anniversary of the New York Public Library, I created replicas of the two famous marble lions that guard the entrance to the library. The LEGO lions were installed and unveiled exactly one hundred years to the day that the original lions were installed.

The original lions measure 10 feet 5 inches long, so I decided to make these replica lions exactly half that length. These lions used about 60,000 bricks.

The marble lions are named Patience and Fortitude. And, as you can guess, while building these sculptures I needed a lot of patience and forties.
